The leader of Guinea’s military junta Capt. Camara who an aide had tried to assassinate is in Burkina Faso recuperating after surviving a gunshot to the head. The president of Burkina Faso has taken the opportunity to hold talks with the leader and his deputy Gen. Konate about the future of Guinea. The country has been in turmoil since Capt. Camara’s coup in December 2008. The International community has been calling on the Junta to return the country to democratic rule.
The recent UN report on the stadium disaster that left some 150 people dead named Capt. Camara as the one responsible for the pro-democracy march. The march was instigated by Capt. Camara’s interest in standing for elections.
