Wednesday, August 13, 2008

recallSouth Africans may lose confidence in the quality of drugs being supplied to them, especially ARV drugs for AIDS patients and tuberculosis drugs. South Africa’s health department has an investigation underway after drugs used for treating TB patients were withdrawn.

The drugs have been tested and proven to have lost their potency, after being used for treatment of over thousand patients. Some ARV drugs were also called off because of packaging mix ups. The health minister has condemned the negligence of the suppliers of the drugs; Adcock Ingram. The life of many affected with the deadly HIV/AIDS virus is at stake and the health ministry is concerned about the safety of these people.
