It is clear that even hard core-statists are not against the sale of Ghana Telecom to private investors. That said, many are worried about the shady circumstances under which the divestiture is being made. The Ghanaian government is being accused of narrowly focusing on British Telecom giant, Vodafone. The questions on every one’s mind are; couldn’t Ghanaians have purchased GT, if its assets were off loaded through Ghana’s vibrant stock exchange? Could it be, as is always, a case of crony capitalism with loads of kick backs promised in return for the deal to pass?
