Zimbabwe’s Elephant Trade To China Hits $1 Million

Latest figures released by the Zimbabwe National Parks and Wildlife Authority reveals that the country exported 24 elephants to China in year 2015, raising $1 million in the process. The Director-General of the agency, Edson Chidziya said export to the Asian country are part of conservation efforts and will continue this year. The proceeds are to be used toward conservation programs and after the ban by the US on trade in trophies and ivory from Zimbabwe and Tanzania, the Asian market is looking like the next destination.
