Sudan hangs six over refugee riot. (BBC)
Six men held responsible for a riot in a Sudanese refugee camp in 2005 have been executed. Authorities say the men were responsible for the death of thirteen policemen and five civilians. The riots started when police tried to clear the Soba Aradi camp where refugees were housed because of the decade long fight between the north and the south.
Amnesty International, a human rights group has condemned the killings saying the men could have been tortured into confessing to a crime they did not commit. The SPLM party in the south said, no thorough investigations were carried out and there were no evidence the men committed the said crime. Five of the men were member of the main political party in the south of Sudan. The execution is one of many being carried out in Sudan after unfair trials. This puts a strain on the peace deal in the country between the north and the south.
