It is an undeniable fact that the only certainty in life is death. In traditional Africa, death is simply the second passage of life, with the hope of reuniting with one’s ancestors. For Christians in particular, judgement awaits every one after death, with the righteous being called to ‘Abraham’s bosom’ and the wicked cast into the eternal fire of hell. Whichever theory one believes, the treatment of the dead in Africa is becoming an important spectacle.
