Except for the recent riots that greeted the food and fuel price hikes in the Ivory Coast, she has been living at peace after a temporary hitch-when politicians decided ethnicity should decide how citizens bread were buttered. So one year on, we need to commend the Ivorian political leaders for sustaining peace in the country, since there has not been any violence in the country since then. The country plans to go to the polls in November 2008. This will be the beginning of democracy in the country if the polls are not marred with any form of violence. The country however faces many challenges, and the outcome of the polls will go along way to determine whether the country is really ready for democracy and development.
