The head of Guinea-Bissau’s air traffic control may be in big trouble if found guilty of having a hand in the current case of cocaine being transported from the country’s main airport. The military may also be implicated in this scandal since the attempt to stop a search by the police. This does not come as a surprise because the country is known for being a major hub in drug trade. The UN already is aware of the extent of corruption and use of the country as a drug base for smugglers.
In Sierra Leone, the government of Ernest Bai Koroma has pledged to help fight and put a stop to his country being used as a transit for international drugs trade. This pledge comes after a plane carrying several bags of cocaine was seized in Freetown. The UN are confident Latin American drug barons have decided to use Africa as their new transit point in their drug business. The president is however ready to deal with all those who will be caught and promises to deliver justice without fear or favor. Other West African countries stand the risk of becoming new routes for the business. They are in fact are!
